The Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Bahrain has welcomed a delegation from the World Health Organization (WHO), headed by Dr Tasnim Ghalib Atatrah, the WHO Representative in Bahrain. The team toured the smoking cessation clinic at the Shaikh Abdulla Bin Khalid Al Khalifa Health Centre.

This visit marks an ongoing effort by the Ministry of Health to enhance its collaboration with the WHO, aiming to share expertise and experiences and implement best practices across various health sectors.

During their visit, those responsible for smoking cessation services at the primary healthcare centres detailed their efforts to address tobacco use and support smokers in quitting. The WHO team assessed the clinic’s offerings, including consultations, treatments, and strategies designed to help individuals stop smoking.

The WHO, working with member states, strives to achieve universal health coverage, encourage healthier lifestyles, and support developmental goals. This involves establishing frameworks to adapt global health strategies to the specific needs of each nation, in line with the regional vision of “Health for All by All: A Call for Solidarity and Action,” thus aiding the progress towards sustainable development goals.
