Unveils New Community Initiatives for Indians in Bahrain

The Indian community in Bahrain gathered yesterday at the Indian Embassy to celebrate the 78th Independence Day, marked by a vibrant and patriotic atmosphere. The event commenced with a flag hoisting ceremony, led by His Excellency Vinod K Jacob, the Indian Ambassador to Bahrain, alongside embassy officers.

The ceremony drew representatives from various societies, business leaders, and families, making it a momentous occasion for the Indian expatriates in Bahrain.

In his address, Ambassador Jacob emphasized the deep ties between Bahrain and India, highlighting the mutual understanding and cooperation that bind the two nations. He extended his gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his compassionate gesture in releasing Indian prisoners under a royal pardon. "I thank HM the King and the representatives of the Indian community actively involved in the process," said the Ambassador.

Ambassador Jacob also acknowledged the significant contributions of the Indian diaspora to India's economic growth and development. He unveiled two new community initiatives aimed at fostering stronger ties and growth within the Indian community in Bahrain: the "Focus State" and the "Visit Embassy" programs.

 The second phase of these initiatives is set to begin later this month, with a particular focus on youth empowerment.The "Visit Embassy Program" invites students to engage directly with embassy officers.

The program provides an opportunity for students and their teachers to participate in interactive sessions at the embassy, discussing international relations and gaining a deeper understanding of diplomatic affairs.

In addition to these initiatives, the Indian Embassy hosted two powerful photo exhibitions. One featured a visual tribute to the heroism of Indian soldiers during the Kargil War, while the other commemorated Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, focusing on the historical impact of the Partition.

Meanwhile, the Indian Independence Day was also celebrated at The Indian Club premises. The ceremony included the hoisting of the national flag, followed by the Indian National Anthem. The club's President, Mr. Cassius Pereira, delivered a moving Independence Day speech, reflecting on the enduring significance of the day. 

This year’s celebrations highlighted the strong and growing ties between Bahrain and India, while underscoring the vibrant spirit of the Indian community in the Kingdom.
