WHO delegation to visit Northern Governorate

The Northern Governorate is gearing up for a visit from a delegation of the World Health Organisation (WHO) as it seeks to be recognised as a “Healthy Governorate.” Governor Ali bin Shaikh Abdul Hussain Al Asfoor emphasised the importance of showcasing the governorate’s successes in various initiatives under the “Healthy Cities” programme during the delegation’s visit.

During a meeting with officials, Governor Al Asfoor highlighted the Northern Governorate’s recent achievements in preventive programmes, particularly the mosquito control campaign, and initiatives promoting social cohesion, such as the “Bayoot Al Khair” project. He stressed the strong connection these initiatives have to the “Healthy Cities” programme’s focus on improving the environmental landscape.

Governor Al Asfoor instructed officials to prepare a schedule of field visits in preparation for the WHO delegation’s arrival. The meeting also included a call for the continuation of the mosquito control campaign in the first constituency of the Northern Governorate and the Souq Waqif area. Additionally, preparations for the eighth edition of the “Rabeh Al Akbar” competition’s closing ceremony were discussed.
