A Gulf national was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 95 dinars for attacking police officers after refusing to exit his burning car while intoxicated. The incident occurred in the Al Hamla area and involved a series of aggressive actions by the defendant.

According to court records, the incident began when the Civil Defense received a report of a burning car. Police officers arrived at the scene to find the car engulfed in flames, with the defendant sitting inside in an intoxicated state.

Despite repeated requests from officers to exit the vehicle for safety reasons, the defendant refused due to his intoxication. One officer was forced to physically remove him from the car, allowing the fire to be extinguished. However, the defendant then attacked the officers, pushing and striking them. He also hurled insults and spat on them.

As additional officers arrived to assist, the defendant continued his aggressive behavior, kicking one officer and spitting on them. He further damaged a window in a holding cell while awaiting a breathalyser test to determine his blood alcohol content. The defendant also assaulted another officer while being transported for the test, striking him in the chest and arm.

The court of first instance sentenced the defendant to one year in prison and fined him 95 dinars for the damage he caused. The High Appeals Court will issue its ruling on the appeal of the defendant on August 18th.
