Bahraini MP Mohammed Al Maarifi has announced his intention to propose a new law establishing government academies dedicated to providing professional certification in various sectors. These academies, as per the MP, would focus on equipping Bahrainis with the specialised skills required for government positions that demand expertise beyond traditional university degrees.

He highlighted the evolving landscape of government services, technological advancements, and the increasing need for specialized skills in certain job roles. He emphasised that traditional university degrees and college certificates are often insufficient to meet these demands, requiring a higher level of knowledge, skills, and practical experience.

"The current situation necessitates intensive training programmes to equip graduates with the necessary skills to fill various government positions," he stated. "This will not only enhance the quality and efficiency of government services but also contribute to reducing unemployment rates and providing employment opportunities for job seekers."

Al Maarifi further stressed that traditional university specialsations no longer fully align with the aspirations and skills of young people. "The rapid evolution of knowledge has led to more specialised fields that are more relevant to real-world applications. These specialised fields can better cater to the interests of young people, ultimately leading to increased productivity and contributions in the future," he explained.
