The evaluation panel for the Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa Award for Voluntary Work has now received the list of nominees, according to Anwar Bu Hassan, Deputy Chairman of the Good Word Society (GWS) and Secretary-General of the Arab Union for Voluntary Work.
The selection process is based on a clear set of criteria to pick out those who have made the greatest contributions to voluntary work.
These include the nominee’s professional standing, social influence, the reach of their voluntary efforts, and a sound national and professional reputation.
Bu Hassan explained that this year’s award will honour leading figures from across the Arab world for their contributions to voluntary work.
The selection is being made in cooperation with the Arab Union for Voluntary Work, following an objective evaluation process. He added, “This year’s nominees have come through in voluntary work, contributing to development in their countries on various levels.”
In addition to celebrating individuals, the event will also acknowledge outstanding voluntary projects and the associations that have won the eighth edition of the Best Bahraini Voluntary Project Award.
Furthermore, the Leadership in Community Work Award will be presented to a national institution that has had a positive impact on the community.
Bu Hassan praised the support of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, whose encouragement of volunteers and their efforts has greatly benefitted the community. He noted that the Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa Award for Voluntary Work has placed Bahrain at the forefront of humanitarian and voluntary initiatives, making it a model for developing effective voluntary work practices and contributing to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
