Environmental Clean-Up Campaign in Northern Area

TDT | Manama

The Daily Tribune - www.newsofbahrain.com

The Northern Governorate's environmental initiative continued in the first district. During a site visit to Jannasen and Barbar, Northern Governor Mr. Ali Al Asfour, along with Zaina Jassim, Vice Chairman of the Northern Municipal Council, Dr Tasneem Al Attatrah from the World Health Organisation in Bahrain, and representatives from the relevant bodies—including the Northern Municipality, Public Health Directorate, Supreme Council for Environment, BAPCO Refining, and other officials—examined the sources of insect breeding linked to various types of waste that promote mosquito infestations.

At Jannasen Beach, the governor launched a clean-up effort, engaging local residents following multiple complaints about insect issues.

This initiative forms part of the governorate's broader strategy to promote environmental safety, which is essential for achieving certification as a 'healthy governorate'.

Subsequent visits to the Jelly fish Factory, Jaradah Fish and Blue Swimming Crab Factory in Jannasen saw the governor, greeted by Dr Jawad Al Jad, General Manager, being briefed on waste recycling processes for producing organic fertiliser and animal feed.
