Saleh Al Sada, a candidate for the first constituency in Muharraq Governorate, has withdrawn his appeal against his opponents in the upcoming by-election which will take place in September. He announced his decision in a video posted on his Instagram account.

Al Sada initially filed an appeal against his opponents, former MP Hamad Al Kooheji and businessman Ebrahim Al Shaikh, due to concerns about their residency status. He claimed that there were 25 electricity accounts registered under Al Kooheji's name, with nine of them active, and 24 active accounts under Al Shaikh's name. He wanted to verify these claims.

Al Sada had previously stated that he would appeal against two candidates if he decided to run. However, he later stated that all candidates were from the Busaiteen area and that he would not challenge anyone who was not from the area.

Despite this, Al Sada filed an appeal against Al Kooheji and Al Shaikh just before the closing of the supervisory centre for the by-election in Busaiteen. He alleged that they were not residents of the constituency. The committee rejected his appeal based on a statement by Dr Ali Al Shuwaikh, the head of the supervisory committee for the by-election.

Al Sada's decision to withdraw his appeal comes after the committee's rejection. It remains unclear if he will continue to contest in the by-election.

It's worth noting that eight candidates are running for the Munarraq's first constituency vacant seat, namely Ebrahim Al Shaikh, Dr Khawla Al Shamsi, Dr Nada bin Shams, Saleh Al Sada, former MP Hamad Al Kooheji, Abdulwahed Qarata, Abdulaziz Al Manaei, and Mallah Al Qahtani.

The by-election was triggered by the Court of Cassation's decision to revoke the membership of former MP Mohammed Al Hussaini due to his holding of dual citizenship, a violation of Bahraini electoral laws.
