The Public Prosecution in Bahrain has referred nine individuals, including one fugitive with an international arrest warrant issued against her, to the High Criminal Court for human trafficking charges.
The investigation, led by the Public Prosecution's Anti-Human Trafficking Directorate, revealed that the suspects brought four foreign women to Bahrain under the pretense of employment. However, they were subsequently held captive and forced to engage in illicit activities without their consent. The suspects exploited the women's personal circumstances for financial gain.
The investigation included thorough inquiries, witness testimonies from the victims, and their placement in the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking's shelter. The court hearing for the case is scheduled for August 20, 2024.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts by the Bahraini authorities to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable individuals. The Public Prosecution's swift action and thorough investigation underscore their commitment to bringing perpetrators to justice.
