In a significant healthcare achievement, Government Hospitals have successfully eliminated the waiting lists for cochlear implant surgeries at Salmaniya Medical Complex, confirmed Her Excellency Dr. Mariam Adhbi Al Jalahma, Chief Executive Officer of Government Hospitals.

This milestone follows the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, who has emphasized the rapid completion of these critical procedures.

Dr. Al Jalahma expressed her gratitude for the unwavering support from His Royal Highness, noting that this achievement is a direct result of his commitment to enhancing healthcare services in the Kingdom of Bahrain. "This is a qualitative step in improving healthcare for citizens and reflects the ongoing efforts to raise the quality and efficiency of medical services," she said.

Cochlear implant surgeries are vital for individuals suffering from deafness or hearing impairment, and the success of these operations greatly enhances the quality of life for patients and their families. Since the beginning of 2024, 23 cochlear implant surgeries have been performed, with a total of 373 since the program’s inception at Salmaniya Medical Complex. With the waiting lists now cleared, new patients can expect a waiting period of just one week after completing the necessary examinations.

The cochlear implant team at Salmaniya Medical Complex is composed of a highly skilled group of professionals, including surgeons, consultants, audiologists, balance specialists, speech therapists, social researchers, and psychologists. This comprehensive approach ensures that patients receive the highest standard of care throughout their treatment.
