A delegation from The Parliamentary Group is attending the 2024 regional seminar focused on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the parliaments of developing countries. The seminar is being held in Beijing, China, from August 19 to 27, with the Kingdom of Bahrain represented by His Excellency AbdulNabi Salman, the First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, and His Excellency Dr Hani Al Saati, a member of the Shura Council.
This engagement includes marking the 40th anniversary of the National People's Congress of China joining the Inter-Parliamentary Union and participating in discussions on various topics. These include defending peace and stability for mutual development and prosperity, aligning development strategies for inclusive economic globalisation, respecting cultural diversity while promoting cultural exchange, and adapting democracy to national conditions to lay a solid foundation for modernity and renewal.
This involvement reflects Bahrain's role and leadership in development efforts, steering national plans and programmes towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This starts with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, based on principles of sustainability, competitiveness, and justice, and continues with aligning government actions with these goals and maintaining a strong international presence in relevant initiatives.
