A proposal to place two palm trees in each housing unit in South Riffa was put forward by municipal council member Mohamed Daraj to the municipal council.

He further clarified that this initiative supports the government’s programme to plant one million palm trees across the Kingdom of Bahrain and aims to enhance the visual appeal of residential areas.

Daraj noted that this proposal is grounded in the Municipalities Law, Decree No. (35) of 2001, which outlines the responsibilities of municipal councils. The law permits the proposal of local projects related to water, roads, parks, lighting, schools, housing, health centres, car parks, and other public services, along with projects of interest to citizens, in collaboration with the relevant authorities.
