Bahrain’s triumph at the Paris 2024 Olympics has set the stage for even bigger dreams as the Kingdom prepares for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. With over 12,000 athletes participating globally, Team Bahrain brought home two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze, a remarkable achievement that has placed Bahrain at the forefront of the international sports arena.
A grand reception was held at City Centre Bahrain last night to celebrate the historic win, where athletes were welcomed by enthusiastic crowds of citizens, residents, and representatives from various sports teams. Bahrain’s Olympic medal winners Winfred Mutile Yavi, Akhmed Tazhudinov, Salwa Eid Naser, and Gor Tigran Minasyan received a hero’s welcome from the adoring crowd.
The gathering was a spectacular show of support and pride, not only for the athletes but for Bahrain’s growing prominence in global sports. In an interview with The Daily Tribune reporter Hussain AlMaskati, Faris Al Kooheji, Secretary General of Bahrain’s Olympic Committee, praised the outpouring of support from the public. “We expected a strong turnout, but the crowd at this reception exceeded all expectations. It shows the immense love and pride the people have for Bahrain’s Olympic medalists,” he said. Looking ahead to the 2028 Olympics, Al Kooheji shared Bahrain’s clear vision for continued success. “ Under the leadership of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, new strategies have already been put in place to achieve even greater success in Los Angeles. The leaders’ vision and passion for uplifting the sporting arena with Team Bahrain is a remarkable achievement for the Kingdom.”
