The Indian Ladies Association (ILA) announces the commencement of its annual classes for basic communication skills in spoken English in September 2024, specifically designed for low-income adults of all nationalities residing in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This course targets individuals who cannot afford expensive training institutions. The course is one of ILA’s many community outreach projects and is coordinated by the SpeakEasy subcommittee members Dr. Ruby Thomas and Nisha Maroli.

The course which will begin on 6th of September will last for two months, with classes held twice a week. At the end of the course, students will be presented with a certificate at a grand finale attended by dignitaries, where they will also have the opportunity to display their newly acquired skills. The main objective of this project is to help participants acquire basic communication skills in English, enabling them to become more effective at work and in their social interactions.

Skilled teachers volunteer their time, while the coordinators organize the classes. The curriculum covers basic spoken English, communication and social skills, and etiquette. A nominal fee of BD10 is charged for enrollment, intended more as a commitment from participants than as a fee. Individuals with a minimum qualification of high school graduation are eligible to join the course. ILA will also coordinate for sponsor support for  students who are unable to pay  the nominal fee.

Application forms for the course will be available at  Malabar Biryani House Salmaniya, Vrindavan Restaurant Manama,  Mysore Bhavan, Sangeetha Restaurant, Citymart SuperMarket, Hoora. Selected applicants will be called for an interview at the ILA premises to qualify for enrollment in the course.
