The Tender Board revealed on Thursday that twelve tenders from various ministries and government bodies had been opened. Among these, a few tenders stood out for their sheer size and scope.

One noteworthy tender came from the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, which is seeking bids for the Bahrain Animal and Agricultural Production Show (Mara'ee 2024). Three companies are in the running for this contract, which includes designing, planning, marketing, constructing, and fully producing the exhibition. It covers everything from organising the opening ceremony to live animal displays and an agricultural exhibition, along with the construction of temporary facilities. Pico International put forward the highest offer at BHD 1,595,000, with Howar Seasons coming in at BHD 1,485,495. The lowest bid was placed by Faalyat, with a proposal of BHD 1,095,379.01.

Elsewhere, the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) opened technical bids for the New Hawar SWRO Desalination Plant project. This venture involves the construction of a seawater reverse osmosis plant on Hawar Island, expected to produce between 1 and 2 million gallons per day (MIGD) of potable water. The project also includes two ground storage tanks, each capable of holding 1 MIG, alongside the installation of forwarding pumps.

Another tender from the Ministry of Education attracted seven bidders, each offering to supply smart devices for teachers and students in government schools. The aim is to enhance the technological resources available in schools, with a 48-month technical warranty that covers all spare parts. Fakhroo Information Technology Services offered the lowest bid at BHD 135,118.50 (Option 1), while Computer World’s bid of BHD 424,935.83 (Option 4) was the highest.

In addition, six firms are competing for a tender issued by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, which involves the rehabilitation of four houses in the Al Qalaa area. The project requires overseeing renovations, with three houses needing finishing touches and MEP installations, while one house will be completely rebuilt. Sun Middle East Contracting Co put in the lowest bid at BHD 111,284.25, whereas Jahecon offered the highest at BHD 167,524.30. A bid by Al Burni Construction and Trading’s was suspended.

As always, each proposal will be evaluated for both its technical and financial merits, meaning the lowest offer isn’t guaranteed to win.
