MP Dr. Maryam Al Dhaen has highlighted the 23rd anniversary of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) as a key moment coinciding with the Kingdom of Bahrain’s celebration of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s Silver Jubilee.
Dr. Al-Dhaen commended the SCW, led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, for its significant role in advancing Bahraini women’s rights and integrating them into the nation’s development. Dr. Al-Dhaen emphasized that the SCW’s efforts, supported by the government under His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, have propelled women from supportive roles to positions of equal opportunity.
This progress reflects the constitutional and National Action Charter’s commitment to gender equality and the strategic role of women in public life. She also acknowledged the contributions of the private sector and civil society in promoting gender balance and equal opportunities. The SCW has been instrumental in raising political awareness, leading to greater female representation in legislative bodies through free elections.
This progress, according to Dr. Al-Dhaen, underscores Bahrain’s commitment to human rights, equitable legislation, and social justice.
