A former tenant of Muharraq Park has been ordered to pay 15,000 dinars to the Muharraq Municipality for damages caused to the park during their tenancy. The High Administrative Appeals Court upheld the municipality's claim, ruling that the company, which had leased the park for a festival, failed to uphold its contractual obligations and caused significant damage to the public space.

The municipality initially sought 20,000 dinars in compensation, citing the company's breach of contract by neglecting the park's safety and security standards, leading to deterioration of services and extensive damage. The municipality had previously filed an urgent complaint to document the damage and obtained a technical report, which was ultimately accepted by the court.

The tenant appealed the initial ruling, challenging the validity of the technical report. The Appeals Court appointed a joint expert panel to assess the damages, but the experts disagreed on the final repair cost. Ultimately, the court sided with the municipality's report, which estimated the repair cost at 15,000 dinars, including materials, equipment, and labour.

The court concluded that the tenant had indeed caused significant damage to the park, validating the municipality's report as being based on sound evidence. While upholding the initial ruling, the court reduced the compensation amount to 14,930 dinars, reflecting the final assessment of the damages.
