The Court of Cassation has upheld a five-year prison sentence for an Asian man who attempted to smuggle over 100 drug capsules inside his body. The man was apprehended at Bahrain International Airport after exhibiting suspicious behavior, leading to his arrest and subsequent conviction.

The incident unfolded when the suspect arrived at the airport on a flight from his home country. Customs officers noticed his nervousness and excessive sweating, prompting them to direct him to the red channel for further inspection. When questioned about his belongings, he denied possessing any prohibited items. However, the customs officer remained suspicious and referred the man to a medical examination.

The medical examination revealed the presence of foreign objects inside the suspect's body. Upon further investigation, the man confessed to having swallowed drug capsules. Medical intervention was necessary to extract the capsules, which were found to contain over 100 narcotic pills.

Security investigations revealed that the suspect was part of a drug smuggling ring. The Public Prosecution charged him with possession and trafficking of cannabis and psychotropic substances.

The court found the suspect guilty on all charges and sentenced him to five years in prison.
