A Delegation from the Bahraini Parliament Visits China and Meets with the Vice Chairman of the National People’s Congress

Zhang Baojuan, the Vice Chairman of the National People’s Congress, welcomed a Bahraini parliamentary delegation to China. The group included Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Rumaihi, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defense, and National Security Committee, and Dr Maryam Al Dhaen, Vice Chairman of the Committee. The meeting, held at the Council’s headquarters in Beijing, also saw the participation of Jiang Jinbing, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and Wang Honghong, a permanent committee member.

The discussion centred on various aspects of the relationship between the two nations, covering political, economic, security, and social issues. They explored methods to enhance these ties through systems and legislation.

This visit, an official invitation from China, is part of an effort to strengthen parliamentary relations. The goal is to explore mutual cooperation with committees concerned with foreign affairs, improve joint coordination, and share experiences on legislation and legal frameworks governing political activities.

Al Rumaihi praised the growing relationship between Bahrain and China, noting China’s influential role both regionally and globally. He acknowledged that the Bahraini-Chinese partnership is rooted in a long-standing friendship and expressed gratitude to the Chinese Parliament for their warm welcome and hospitality. He noted the trust placed in the Parliament and the committee’s efforts to advance global parliamentary diplomacy in line with Bahrain’s goals.

Dr. Maryam Al Dhaen reiterated that the strategic partnership between Bahrain and China is based on mutual political trust and economic cooperation. She stressed the joint efforts to enhance communication between government and parliamentary bodies and the importance of ongoing collaboration in various fields such as infrastructure, economy, trade, investment, finance, new energy, advanced technology, agriculture, fisheries, education, culture, tourism, and health, to foster development and prosperity between the two countries.

In response, the Vice Chairman of the National People’s Congress extended her thanks and appreciation to the Bahraini delegation for their visit. She also announced that a Chinese delegation will visit the Bahraini Parliament in October.
