A new draft law, set to transform the regulation of health professions, is taking shape. This law aims to simplify legal frameworks and incorporate telemedicine.
This legislation will clarify the responsibilities of both individuals and organisations, offering sufficient flexibility to adapt to future changes. The government has outlined that the law will address various new elements, particularly focusing on telemedicine systems and the necessary regulatory structures.
In a memo to Parliament, the government explained that the proposed law's comprehensive nature precludes the need for a separate telemedicine statute, as it can readily adapt to new developments.
Additionally, the government affirmed its intention to keep up with emerging trends to ensure alignment with health policy goals and future sector directions. It noted that current regulations are already quite adaptable, with the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) overseeing the efficient, safe, and effective delivery of services based on scientific principles and approved standards.
