A Bahraini man has been sentenced to five years in prison for attempting to smuggle drugs into the country. The defendant was found guilty of collaborating with an unknown individual to import narcotics concealed within a speaker.

The incident occurred when customs officials at Bahrain International Airport intercepted a suspicious package containing a speaker. Upon examination, they discovered a hidden compartment containing a quantity of pills. The package was then handed over to the Anti-drug authorities, who confirmed the pills contained illegal narcotics.

The defendant, who was identified as the recipient of the package, was apprehended and subsequently charged with drug trafficking and possession.

During the investigation, authorities discovered that the defendant was part of a drug trafficking ring, responsible for receiving and distributing narcotics. He admitted to receiving payments for transporting the packages and delivering them to other individuals for distribution.

The court found the defendant guilty of attempting to import narcotics and possessing cannabis for personal use. He was sentenced to five years imprisonment for the drug trafficking charges and an additional sentence for the cannabis possession.
