STAG-AMR, the WHO’s chief advisory panel on antimicrobial resistance, provides guidance to the Director-General and the Antimicrobial Resistance Division. Consisting of 25 international experts, the group plays a crucial role in shaping global strategies and policies to address antimicrobial resistance.

Dr Al Salman acknowledged the importance of her new position, vowing to advance STAG-AMR’s objectives and strengthen international collaboration.
She praised Bahrain’s achievements, including its swift response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has been lauded by the WHO and other nations. Dr Al Salman expressed gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa for their support in improving Bahrain’s healthcare system. She also thanked the WHO and its Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, for the opportunity to contribute to global health efforts.
Additionally, Dr Al Salman congratulated Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa for her work in advancing the roles of women in Bahrain and thanked His Excellency Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh for his support in enhancing the expertise of Shura Council members, which helps improve Bahrain’s standing on the global stage.
