The "Smile" initiative, a Bahrain Future Society for Youth initiative that provides psychosocial support to children with cancer and their parents in the Kingdom of Bahrain, has announced the launch of the eleventh edition of its awareness campaign, "Kids R Gold".

This campaign is tailored to raise awareness about childhood cancer across various segments of the Bahraini community, in alignment with the global effort to increase understanding of the disease.

The campaign will be inaugurated under the patronage of His Excellency Lieutenant General Doctor Sheikh Mohamed Bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, on Thursday, August 29th, at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain.

This year, the campaign will be held under the theme "Children's Cancer is Curable," coinciding with September, a month dedicated to raising awareness about childhood cancer. The event will honor more than 40 children who have successfully overcome the disease, with the presence of distinguished figures from various sectors.

Mr. Sabah Al Zayani, Chairman of the Future Society for Youth, emphasized the critical importance of this campaign in supporting children with cancer and their families, and remarked that this year's "Kids R Gold 11" campaign will be a distinctive edition, featuring innovative ideas and a completely new identity. It symbolizes a collaborative effort between civil society, the private sector, and government agencies to provide both moral and material support to children battling cancer, helping them navigate this challenging journey.

Mr. Al Zayani stated, "Through this campaign, we aim to raise community awareness about childhood cancer and emphasize that it is a curable disease, provided there is early detection, adherence to treatment, and consistent medical follow-up. We plan to organize numerous new events throughout September, ensuring that this edition reflects a decade of dedication and success from previous campaigns,"

"We extend our deepest gratitude to His Excellency Lieutenant General Doctor Sheikh Mohamed Bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, for his generous patronage and unwavering support in launching the eleventh edition of the Kids R Gold 11' campaign.

His positive engagement is a cornerstone in providing the necessary support to sick children and enhancing the humanitarian spirit that distinguishes our Kingdom. We also thank the management of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain for graciously hosting the launch ceremony of this year's campaign." Mr. Al Zayani concluded.
