Bahrain to Host 17th Gulf Basketball Championship Under Patronage of Khalid bin Hamad

The Kingdom of Bahrain will host the 17th Gulf Men's Basketball Championship from September 2nd to 7th, under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC).

The championship, organised by the Bahrain Basketball Association (BSA), will be a testament to the unwavering support of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for sports events in the Kingdom.

Mohammed Al Ajmi, Advisor to the Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the Organising Committee for the Championship as well as President of Bahrain National Teams, expressed his gratitude to His Highness for his patronage, stating that it will be a major boost for the tournament and contribute significantly to its success.

Al Ajmi emphasised that the patronage embodies His Highness' continuous support for sports associations and his dedication to advancing youth and sports initiatives in Bahrain, particularly in basketball.

Moreover, he highlighted that the patronage of His Highness is a great honour for the Bahrain and Gulf basketball communities, adding that it comes with a significant responsibility to deliver a championship worthy of His Highness' patronage and the prestigious reputation Bahrain has earned in hosting sporting events, especially basketball tournaments.
