Bahrain has bid farewell to Abdulrahman Jamsheer, who passed away today at the age of 80 after a prolonged illness.

Jamsheer was a distinguished figure in both politics and business, serving as a member of the Shura Council before his death.

His career left a lasting impression across various sectors. He played a key role in shaping Bahrain’s political landscape, notably as Secretary-General of the National Action Charter of 2002. His efforts were crucial to the formation and endorsement of this charter.

Jamsheer began his professional journey at the Ministry of Agriculture before advancing to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). In 1973, he established the National Import and Export Company, which later became Esterad Investment. As General Manager and subsequently Managing Director, he made important contributions to the Investment Committee.

His influence extended to various organisations, including his role as chair of the Alumni Club and active involvement in the Shura Council. He founded the National Action Charter Society in 2002 and represented Bahrain in the Arab Parliament.

Jamsheer also held leadership positions in Delmon Poultry Company, BANZ Group, and Bahrain Duty Free Complex. His work with the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and roles at the National Bank of Bahrain, Kuwait Projects Company, and Khaleeji Commercial Bank, further reflected his impact on Bahrain’s economy.

Jamsheer’s extensive career and enduring influence on Bahrain’s political and economic landscape will be remembered with deep respect. His words, “Determination is the foundation for overcoming challenges and achieving accomplishments,” will continue to resonate with many.
