A large-scale project to rebuild, renovate, rehabilitate, and maintain nearly half of the mosques in the second constituency of Muharraq Governorate is set to begin in the coming period.
MP Hamad Al Doy revealed that this long-awaited project has been greenlit after continuous follow-up and correspondence with relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, and the Sunni Endowments Administration. The project will be divided into two phases: the first focusing on rebuilding several mosques, and the second on renovating and maintaining others.
The project will encompass 7 out of 15 mosques in the constituency. Mosques slated for complete demolition and reconstruction include Bukawara Mosque, Al Qamra Mosque, and Bin Shida Mosque. Additionally, Tariq bin Ziyad Mosque and Bin Nayem Mosque will undergo maintenance, while Quba Mosque and Bin Matar Al Shamali Mosque will be renovated.
MP Al Doy expects the project to commence shortly, expressing hope for its completion to the highest standards and in the shortest possible time.
He praised the dedicated efforts of the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Mawda, in serving the mosques and his continuous commitment to their upkeep and preservation. This approach, he emphasised, has been a hallmark of the Ministry since its inception.
Al Doy extended his sincere gratitude to Dr Shaikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Hajri, Chairman of the Sunni Endowments Adminstration, for the tireless efforts of the Endowments in fulfilling their roles to the fullest.
Furthermore, Al Doy mentioned that in addition to the seven mosques, work is currently underway to demolish and rebuild two other mosques located within the constituency, specifically in the Old Muharraq Development Area.
These are Bin Hindi Mosque and Isa bin Ali Al Kaber Mosque. This brings the total number of mosques scheduled for rebuilding and renovation to 9 out of 15, representing approximately 60% of the constituency's mosques.
