A love story that once burned bright has ended in ashes, leaving a trail of heartbreak and legal consequences. The High Criminal Court has sentenced a man to three years in prison and ordered him to pay BD 5,819 in damages for setting fire to his ex-girlfriend's car. The incident stemmed from a bitter dispute over BD 800 the man had given the woman during their two-year relationship.
The court heard that the man, consumed by a sense of betrayal, demanded the money back after the woman informed him of her impending marriage. Despite agreeing on a payment plan, the man's anger escalated, leading him to threaten the woman and ultimately resort to arson.
The woman, caught in the crossfire of a love turned toxic, watched as her past relationship was consumed by flames. Her car, a symbol of their shared memories, was reduced to a charred shell.
Security camera footage captured the man, his face hidden behind a mask, pouring gasoline onto the car before setting it ablaze. The flames, a stark reflection of the burning anger within him, illuminated the darkness of his heart.
A witness, who knew the man, testified to the man's desperation and anger, revealing the depth of his hurt and the extent to which his love had turned into a bitter resentment. The court, acknowledging the destructive power of a love gone wrong, found the man guilty of arson.
