Khalid Buanq, a member of the Parliament, has confirmed that the 5th Constituency of Muharraq Governorate is poised for a significant transformation with the completion of several key projects. These projects were previously advocated for by Buanq in the parliament and were part of his electoral platform. Their inauguration is scheduled to coincide with the Silver Jubilee celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's ascension to the throne.
Buanq expressed to the News of Bahrain his deepest gratitude and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on this auspicious occasion.
He revealed that this year will witness the grand opening of the Qalali Waterfront, reviving the coastal character of the area historically known for its beachfront. The project, spanning 100,000 square meters along the road leading to Amwaj Islands, is set to become the latest addition to Muharraq's, and Bahrain's, tourism landscape. It will feature an array of services, restaurants, and entertainment options, further solidifying Bahrain's position on the regional and international tourism map.
Buanq highlighted that the project aligns with the objectives of the National Strategy for Bahrain's master plan, complementing Bahrain's Vision 2030 and the government's action plan. He emphasised that the project will bolster Muharraq's tourism infrastructure, serving as a pivotal development element catering to diverse tourism needs, ultimately contributing to the nation's sustainable development goals.
Moreover, he announced that the first phase of the Muharraq Ring Road will be inaugurated soon. This project aims to provide safe and swift access to neighbouring areas (Hidd - Qalali, Samaheej, Al Dair) as well as to the entrances and exits of Amwaj Islands, Dilmunia, and Diyar Al Muharraq.
The project extends the fourth Muharraq Bridge connecting Busaiteen and Diyar Al Muharraq. The road expansion, stretching from the Amwaj Islands entrance to the Hidd entrance, will increase lanes from two in each direction to three in each direction, accommodating the growth in the northern and southern parts of the road. The project also includes the development of the Hidd intersection and the construction of a new eastern entrance to the intersection leading to the investment and commercial complexes in the area.
Buanq explained that this project will significantly alleviate the heavy congestion on the Riya Road, easing the burden on citizens traveling from northern Muharraq to Busaiteen and Manama.
