Manama, Bahrain – The Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, has officially announced the launch of the National Appointment System and its mobile app, Mawaeed. This innovative platform, one of the winning projects from the second edition of the Government Innovation Competition, Fikra, is designed to serve as a unified appointment booking system for services that require in-person attendance at government service centers.

Al Qaed emphasized that the launch of Mawaeed aligns with the directives of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and supports the government's vision for digital transformation. It is a critical component of the Government Plan 2023–2026, which aims to adopt new technologies and improve system efficiency. The initiative also follows the decisions of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology, chaired by His Excellency, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior.

Developed collaboratively by the Ministry of Interior and the iGA, Mawaeed was initially piloted in November 2023 through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Urban Planning and Development Authority. Following its success, the app has expanded to include 18 new government centers from six additional entities, such as the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf, the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, the Public Prosecution, and the Royal Humanitarian Foundation, bringing the total number of enrolled entities to nine.

The Mawaeed app offers several key features, including bilingual support in Arabic and English, a comprehensive list of government entities, and services for seamless appointment booking and management. Users receive notifications for appointment confirmations and reminders and can provide instant feedback through the National Suggestions & Complaints System (Tawasul). Registration is available for citizens, residents, non-residents, and GCC nationals using their Bahrain ID, passport numbers, or GCC ID.

Since its pilot launch, the Mawaeed app has been downloaded over 9,679 times and has facilitated more than 50,000 booking requests. The app is available for download from the eGovernment App Store at bahrain.bh/apps.

For more information about the National Appointment System and the Mawaeed app, users can contact the Government Services Call Center at 80008001 or provide feedback through Tawasul or the app itself.
