A meeting was held with the families of five Bahraini travelers detained in Yemen to update them on the latest developments regarding their sons' situation, according to MP Jalal Kazim. The families expressed deep concern over the lack of communication with their loved ones and their uncertain fate, appealing to His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to intervene and secure their release.
The detained travelers, who entered Yemen legally, were apprehended during a security investigation after mistakenly entering a military zone, according to the Yemeni authorities. The families expressed anxiety over the extended duration of the investigation, with their sons having been detained for over 40 days.
"We are maintaining open communication channels at the highest levels with the Bahraini Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs to expedite the release of the detained travelers," MP Jalal Kazim told the Daily Tribune. "The security attaché at the Bahraini Embassy in Saudi Arabia is also working tirelessly on this matter, as Bahrain currently lacks diplomatic representation in Yemen."
MP Kazim emphasised the need for citizens to strictly adhere to official directives: "We urge our citizens to avoid conflict zones and unstable countries. It is crucial to refrain from traveling to countries without diplomatic representation, as unforeseen circumstances could arise, potentially hindering our ability to assist them," he concluded.
