Bahrain Registers Over 700 New Medications in 2024

The Arab Health Authorities Conference and Exhibition kicked off at the Gulf Convention Center, featuring prominent health officials and industry leaders.

The event is a key platform for regional collaboration, with a focus on enhancing healthcare services across Arab countries.

Dr. Jaleela bint Alsayed Jawad Hasan, Bahrain’s Minister of Health, emphasized the conference’s importance, stating, "This conference aligns with our efforts to maintain the quality and sustainability of healthcare services in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

It allows us to adopt the latest scientific advancements, discuss critical initiatives, and tackle common health challenges faced by Arab nations. By sharing experiences and best practices, we can elevate our medical services and achieve shared objectives."

The medical sector is a key area that requires concentrated attention to ensure the successful execution of strategies aimed at maintaining public health, in line with global developments, Dr. Jaleela added.

The event was held under the esteemed presence of HE Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, and featured notable speakers including Dr. Ahmed Mohammed AlAnsari, CEO of National Health Regulatory Authority."We are proud to host this first-of-its-kind conference in Bahrain," Dr. AlAnsari remarked.

"It is an essential platform for sharing experiences and expertise across the Arab world, fostering stronger cooperation in the healthcare sector, and jointly addressing the challenges we face."

Parallel to the forum, multinational pharmaceutical companies showcased innovative products. Dr. Sherin Goubran, General Manager of Yousuf Mahmood Husain Co., praised the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) for its vital role in registering new products.

"NHRA plays a crucial role in ensuring innovative medications are made available in Bahrain, enabling pharmaceutical experts to provide optimal services," he said.

This year alone, more than 700 new advanced medications have been registered in Bahrain, with over 400 pharmacies operating across the Kingdom.

The forum concluded with a closed meeting of officials from participating countries, where they discussed current challenges and future healthcare recommendations.
