The Public Prosecution has ordered the referral of two suspects to trial for human trafficking charges. The suspects are accused of holding an Asian woman captive and exploiting her for immoral acts.
The case is scheduled for a hearing on September 22, 2024. “The Public Prosecution initiated its investigation immediately after receiving a police report regarding the incident,” a statement issued by the Public Prosecution office read, adding: “Investigations revealed that the suspects, who form a criminal group, had lured the victim to Bahrain with promises of employment.
“Upon her arrival, they transported and housed her in multiple locations, forcing her into prostitution through coercion and threats. They profited from her exploitation.” The victim managed to contact her embassy, which in turn alerted the police. The suspects were subsequently arrested. “The Public Prosecution has heard witness testimonies and statements from the victim.
The victim has been placed in a shelter run by the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking,” the statement continued. “The suspects were interrogated and are currently in custody awaiting trial,” it concluded.
