Filipinos celebrates National Language Month in style

Her Excellency Anne Jalando-on Louis, Ambassador of the Phillippines in the Kingdom of Bahrain, has led the celebration of the annual National Language Month at the Philippine Embassy, a significant occasion for promoting Philippine cultural heritage.
The event was organised in collaboration with the Philippine School Bahrain and the Wika Toastmasters Club centered around the inspiring theme, Filipino: Wikang Mapagpalaya” (Filipino: A Language that Liberates). In her inspiring speech, Ambassador Louis highlighted the importance of language as an essential tool for expressing ideas, culture, and identity.
She further noted that the presence of a language within a community fosters a sense of independence and empowerment. Ambassador Louis extended her appreciation to the Philippine School Bahrain (PSB) and Wika Toastmasters Club for its commitment to the promotion of the national language in building up community sense among Filipinos in Bahrain. According to Ramon Angel, president of Wika Toastmasters Club, the celebration of the event held significant importance as it reflects the culture of the Filipino people in terms of unity and nation’s pride.
‘’This annual celebration calls for the richness of the Filipino language and serves as an excellent avenue to increase awareness and appreciation in the development of the nation’s history,’’ Angel said. Poetry recital, storytelling, contests, and cultural performances from kids and adults alike marked the event and was attended by officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy Vice Consul Laser Blitz Sumagaysay, Officer-In- Charge of the Migrant Worker Office Celia V. Cabadonga, and Dr. Amelito Adel, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Welfare Officer.
