The Education Ministry has issued new rules banning public schools from requiring parents to buy study booklets from certain shops or stationery outlets. Schools are also forbidden from printing and selling these materials to students. Teachers who create revision guides must either print them at school and distribute them for free or provide a link so parents or students can print them on their own, without any obligation.
The Ministry made it clear that these booklets, though useful for daily revision, are entirely optional and do not impact student assessments, which rely on textbooks, workbooks, and the full curriculum.
Additionally, the Ministry has uncovered that some shops and bookstores have been reproducing and selling study materials produced by schools without proper authorisation. Such actions violate regulations, and the Ministry plans to take legal action against those responsible.
Parents are urged not to purchase these study booklets and are encouraged to report any incidents by emailing the Ministry at Whistleblowing@moe.gov.bh, including the name of the school and the relevant staff member.
