Major award launched for persons with disabilities

The Ministry of Social Development has announced the launch of the first edition of the Excellence and Creativity Award for Persons with Disabilities. This initiative, undertaken in collaboration with the Executive Office of the Council of Ministers of Labour and the Council of Ministers of Social Affairs within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), aims to recognise and honour the remarkable achievements of individuals with disabilities.
The award seeks to encourage efforts that support the empowerment of persons with disabilities and to foster greater community awareness and integration. His Excellency Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al Asfoor, Minister of Social Development and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Care of the Disabled, commended the Executive Office for its role in advancing Gulf cooperation in social development.
Strategies
He highlighted the Office’s efforts in developing sustainable institutional strategies and implementing impactful development projects and initiatives. Al Asfoor emphasised that the National Strategy for Persons with Disabilities is centered on safeguarding their rights and providing necessary support. He underscored the significance of the Excellence and Creativity Award as a testament to the Gulf States’ belief in the capabilities and creativity of persons with disabilities.

The award provides a platform for these individuals to showcase their contributions, encouraging them to overcome challenges and achieve excellence. The award aims to appreciate both the creative achievements of individuals with disabilities and the efforts of supporting entities.
