The Lower Criminal Court has convicted two former employees for using confidential client information from the company they previously worked for, according to the company’s legal representatives, lawyers Samra Al Qassir and Zahra Al Jasir. The Court sentenced the defendants for their actions during 2023 in the Capital Governorate. They were found guilty of exploiting their position as custodians of company secrets for personal gain.
The defendants obtained client data from the company and offered them competitive pricing, leveraging their knowledge gained during their employment without the company’s authorisation.
Positions
The court established that the first defendant was the company’s sales manager, and the second defendant was the public relations and accounts manager. Their roles granted them access to all company secrets, particularly product pricing. Both defendants resigned in 2022.
Resignation
Following their resignation, they established a company in the Kingdom of Bahrain, specialising in the same field as the victim company. The victim company discovered their actions when clients contacted them, informing them that the defendants had reached out offering the same services at lower, enticing prices.
This resulted in significant damage to the victim company’s interests. The court further found that the defendants had utilised confidential information, including client data, contact details, and product pricing, to contact clients and offer them competitive prices. An email was presented as evidence, sent by the first defendant to a client, stating he had established a new company and wished to offer competitive pricing. The email also included details of his new company
