Bahrain is advancing its wastewater management efforts with a new project aimed at improving the sewage flow between Muharraq and Manama. The Works Ministry has issued a tender to upgrade the B1 sewage pumping station.
Through the Tender Board, the Ministry is seeking bids to manage the transfer of sewage between these areas and to revamp the B1 station as part of a wider initiative to enhance the island’s sanitation infrastructure. The project will involve restoring the B1, B1C, and B1F pumping stations, rerouting three pressure lines — each 500mm in diameter and 1200 metres long — and building two new sewage lifting stations.
The existing B1 station will also undergo extensive structural, mechanical, and electrical improvements. The tender process will be conducted in one phase, with bids assessed for both technical and financial aspects. Only those that pass the technical evaluation will be considered for financial review. Eligible bidders must be registered with the Council for Regulating the Practice of Engineering Professions (CRPEP) under categories A or B and must demonstrate they have office facilities and a local address.
