Wafaa Yaqoub has secured her place in Bahrain’s chess history as the first Woman Candidate Master (WCM) in the country. She earned this title at the Chess Olympiad in Budapest. Her journey to becoming a WCM was driven by determination and tactical skill, culminating in a strong showing at the Olympiad.
Earlier in the year, Wafaa had made an impression by securing first place in the Blitz Chess Championship for International Women’s Day, and later finishing fifth in the Bahrain Classic Chess Championship, earning her a spot on the national team.
With four wins and a draw against challenging opponents at the Olympiad, her abilities were undeniable.
