Bahraini space engineer Yaqoub Al Qassab has won the global ‘20 Under 35’ award, the only Arab recognised among this year’s honourees.
The award, given by The Society of Satellite Professionals International, recognises Al Qassab’s academic and professional achievements in satellite construction, as well as his influence in advancing space technology both in Bahrain and beyond. The winners were selected by a panel of judges following a competitive process, assessing various criteria relevant to the space industry.
Dr Ebrahim Al Aseeri, CEO of the National Space Science Agency (NSSA), voiced his pride in Al Qassab’s success, stating, ‘I congratulate engineer Yaqoub Al Qassab on receiving this prestigious global award. It comes as no surprise, given his relentless efforts in advancing space science in Bahrain. He added, ‘These Bahraini achievements are the result of our Agency’s dedication to realising the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. We take great pride in seeing our youth achieving international success, raising Bahrain’s profile in the field of space science.’
Al Qassab expressed his gratitude for the support he had received, saying, ‘I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Board of Directors and executive management of the National Space Science Agency for their continued support. This recognition strengthens my resolve to continue enhancing my expertise in space science and to inspire Bahrain’s youth to follow their dreams with determination.’
