Kingdom of Bahrain Participates in the Future Summit in New York

The Kingdom of Bahrain, represented by H.E. Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the Summit of the Future, which commenced today at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The summit is chaired by H.E. Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, and attended by global leaders, including H.E. Mr. Filimon Yang, President of the General Assembly, along with numerous heads of state, ministers, and representatives of Member States involved in the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
During the summit, H.E. Dr. Al-Zayani delivered a speech, conveying greetings from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, and expressed hopes that the summit would result in meaningful progress aligned with the objectives outlined in the "Treaty of the Future" currently under discussion.

In his address, Dr. Al-Zayani underscored the serious and interconnected challenges facing the world, emphasizing the need for the international community to act collectively. He noted that addressing the root causes of global issues goes beyond immediate threats to peace, security, and prosperity. Dr. Al-Zayani highlighted core objectives, including equitable and sustainable development, access to science and technology, youth education and empowerment, conflict prevention, and upholding international law.

"The Kingdom of Bahrain remains steadfast in its commitment to these goals," he said, reflecting on Bahrain’s values and principles. He emphasized that under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Bahrain has taken significant strides, notably during the Arab Summit hosted in May, which resulted in impactful decisions for the region.

Bahrain's Vision for Peace and Multilateral Cooperation

Alongside the summit, H.H. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesman for Political Affairs, participated in an interactive dialogue on "Strengthening Multiparty for International Peace and Security." He emphasized Bahrain's commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the support of H.R.H. Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to fostering international cooperation to promote global peace, security, and stability.

H.H. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah reaffirmed Bahrain’s dedication to engaging women and youth in efforts toward building a peaceful, inclusive, and sustainable world. He also reviewed His Majesty's vision for peace, based on principles of regional and international collaboration and the pursuit of peaceful resolutions to conflicts.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah emphasized Bahrain’s role in promoting regional peace, citing the Kingdom’s efforts during the Arab Summit and its leadership in the May conference on the Palestinian issue. He reiterated Bahrain’s support for the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative as fundamental steps toward resolving long-standing conflicts in the region.

The Summit of the Future continues to serve as a platform for nations to discuss solutions to global challenges and further strengthen international cooperation in pursuit of peace, security, and development.
