Road rehabilitation in Block 536 of Diraz is in progress, promising improved infrastructure for residents as various projects move forward across the Northern Governorate.

Sayyed Shubbar Al Wadaei, Chairman of the Northern Municipal Council, announced that the project will involve removing the existing asphalt layer and replacing it with a new one.

Additionally, underground channels for future services will be installed, along with traffic signs and road markings. In parallel, the sewage network project in Block 522 of Barbar started on October 1, 2023, with 65% of the work completed.

An infrastructure project in the new area of Jid Al Hajj is also under way, having begun on June 9, with 40% of the work finished.

Infrastructure

Al Wadaei confirmed that the infrastructure project for Blocks 450 in Maqsha and 458 in Karrana, which will serve 115 buildings, is scheduled to start in the second half of 2024.

He pointed out Block 460 as a key project for the First District, currently in the design phase, with ongoing work to connect it to the main sewage network.

Several other blocks are undergoing preliminary designs for 2025, including Block 502 in Jannusan and Block 526 in Barbar.

The remaining parts of Block 522, along with Blocks 524-528 in Barbar, serve 300 properties and are awaiting a consultant for design work.

Priority

Block 530 in Barbar is prioritised for the second half of 2025, while Block 444 in Hillat Abdul Saleh, serving approximately 185 properties, is included in the 2025-2026 programme.

Al Wadaei emphasised the government’s focus on enhancing infrastructure and ensuring a safe living environment for residents, supported by the Ministry of Works.

He praised the Minister of Works, Ebrahim Al Hawaj, and Undersecretary Shaikh Mishaal bin Mohammed Al Khalifa for their efforts in developmental projects in the First District.
