Bahrain Reaffirms Support for Sudan Humanitarian Efforts at High-Level UN Meeting

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, took part in a high-level ministerial meeting addressing the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
Organized by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in collaboration with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the meeting was held on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, drawing significant regional and international participation.
During his address, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah expressed Bahrain's deep appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s initiative in convening the meeting, titled " Urgent and Collective Support to Expand the Humanitarian Response in Sudan and the Region."
He also acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s key role, along with the UAE, Egypt, the USA, Switzerland, the African Union, and the United Nations, in supporting the "Coalition to Save Lives and Achieve Peace in Sudan."
The Undersecretary emphasized Bahrain's commitment to supporting international diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives aimed at achieving the objectives outlined in the "Jeddah Declaration," which focuses on protecting civilians in Sudan, peacefully resolving the conflict, and ending the 17-month-long war.
He stressed the urgent need for full, rapid, and safe access to humanitarian aid in line with international humanitarian law and human rights principles.
Dr. Shaikh Abdullah further underscored Bahrain's firm stance on promoting peace and stability in Sudan through dialogue and peaceful means.
Also in attendance at the meeting was Ambassador Fatima Abdullah Al Dhaen, Director-General of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who reiterated Bahrain’s commitment to fostering international cooperation in addressing humanitarian crises.
The high-level meeting brought together key stakeholders from around the world to discuss coordinated efforts to alleviate the dire humanitarian situation in Sudan and ensure a collective, sustainable response.
