Wishes granted: Southern Municipal Council approves establishment of recreational walkway in Wadi Al Sail

The Southern Municipal Council has unanimously approved during their recent meeting several proposals aimed at improving infrastructure and community facilities in the region. One key approval was the establishment of a recreational walkway in the Wadi Al Sail area of the 7th constituency, responding to the local community’s need for more recreational outlets. The council also approved the creation of new entry and exit points on Road 1713 in Block 917 of the 6th constituency which has been plagued by severe traffic congestion.

Addressing traffic flow, the council voted unanimously to create an intersection and install a traffic light at the junction of Um Al Naasan Avenue and Al Hajiyat Avenue. This is part of the Ministry of Works’ efforts to improve access to the Al Hajiyat area in Riffa.

Sewage and drainage 

a proposal to extend sewage and rainwater drainage networks, as well as carry out paving works in Block 1056 opposite Road 5615 in the 9th constituency. This aligns with Bahrain’s long-term infrastructure development plans. Additionally, the council agreed to request the establishment of a main access point from the National Charter Avenue to the internal road leading to the GCC Commercial Arbitration Centre headquarters in the Eastern Riffa.

In terms of community facilities, the council unanimously approved the establishment of an Eid prayer hall and a health centre in Block 929 of the 4th constituency, responding to the needs of the densely populated area. The council will coordinate with the relevant ministries to facilitate these projects. The council also approved the imposition of fees for entry into the Al Hunainiya Park, aiming to preserve the property and provide financial resources for its maintenance.
