Embracing ‘digital transformation’

H.E. Mr. Vinod K. Jacob, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Bahrain, was the Guest of Honor at the inauguration of the event titled, “Digital Transformation” organised by the Bahrain Chamber of Chartered Accountants of India (BCICAI) on 26 September 2024.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Jacob recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had outlined India’s approach at the recent Summit of the Future at UN Headquarters in New York which also discussed the future of the Global Digital Compact.

Modi said that there is a need for balanced regulation for the safe and responsible use of technology. The Prime Minister added, “We need global digital governance, which ensures that national sovereignty and integrity are upheld.

Digital Public Infrastructure should be a bridge, not a barrier! For global good, India is ready to share its digital public infrastructure with the entire world.”

Ambassador Jacob also said that the Indian Embassy had also encouraged and pursued digital services for the benefit of both Bahrainis and Indian nationals.

He stated that the Embassy’s revamped consular service appointment application ‘EoIBh CONNECT’, which had been functioning since March 2023, had facilitated a total of 70,398 appointments till date, thereby averaging 200 appointments per day.

In February 2024, a new digital fee collection kiosk at the Indian Embassy premises in Seef, which was a collaborative effort of ICICI Bank and Sadad, had not only streamlined the fee collection process but also paved the way for a digital-centric approach towards all transactions.

Initiative The third include initiatives like DEKHO APNA DESH and “Focus State/Union Territory” inititiative, which facilitates public participation through digital platforms for promoting two-way tourism as well as promotion of “One District, One Product” campaign.

The use of digital platforms serves to build bridges between the people of India and Bahrain.
