Nine individuals have been sentenced to three years in prison, each facing a fine of 2,000 Dinars for their roles in a human trafficking ring that exploited vulnerable victims. The High Criminal Court’s ruling also includes the permanent deportation of foreign offenders upon serving their sentences, marking a determined response to this serious crime.
The ruling, confirmed by the Attorney General and Head of Anti-human Trafficking Prosecution, follows an investigation led by the relevant security directorate, which detailed the defendants’ roles in a criminal network trafficking victims. The group lured victims into the country, held them captive, and forced them into illegal activities for profit, taking advantage of their precarious situations.
In light of this, the Public Prosecution launched an inquiry, conducted interviews with the victims, and provided them with shelter. The defendants were detained while an international arrest warrant was issued for one individual currently outside the country. The case was thoroughly examined by the concerned court before the final verdict was delivered.
