Bahrain’s Lifelines Respond to Record Calls

Bahrain’s emergency services had hardly any time to rest, neither in August nor in July.

According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Interior, the Emergency Operations Centre logged a staggering 15,402 calls in August, just shy of July’s remarkable total of 16,751.

In August, patrol units responded to 17% of these calls, with 67% related to urgent emergencies.

Traffic incidents comprised 28%, while security issues accounted for 5%.

The Coast Guard played a pivotal role, managing 131 incidents, including 36 assistance calls, 20 maritime accidents, and an impressive 75 search and rescue operations, showcasing their dedication to safeguarding lives at sea.

Meanwhile, the National Ambulance Service was also on high alert, responding to 4,774 calls—a testament to their relentless commitment to public health.

Their response included 3,222 medical emergencies, 765 patient transports from private facilities, 389 miscellaneous incidents, and 54 fire-related emergencies.

Additionally, 344 traffic accidents highlighted the growing challenges on Bahrain’s roads.

The figures from July reflect a similar story of high demand. The Emergency Operations Centre received 16,751 calls, with patrol units attending to 13% of these.

Emergency situations accounted for 66%, traffic incidents for 28%, and security concerns for 6%. The Coast Guard handled 148 calls, including 89 search and rescue operations, 21 maritime accidents, and 38 assistance requests.

Meanwhile, the National Ambulance Service responded to 4,646 calls, comprising 3,078 medical emergencies, 816 transports, and 328 traffic accidents.

The consistently high call volumes in both months underline the essential role of Bahrain’s emergency services in ensuring the safety and well-being of the public, as they continue to rise to the occasion amid increasing demand.
