A procurement manager’s betrayal of trust has landed him behind bars after he was convicted of embezzling more than BD 8,000 from a Bahraini-owned company.

Despite attempts by the company’s owner to resolve the matter privately, the manager’s refusal to cooperate forced the case into court, where the High Civil Court handed down a decisive verdict.

The court not only sentenced the foreign national to jail but also ordered him to repay BD 8,266.217 in stolen funds, along with legal fees, bringing a dramatic conclusion to a case that shook the company’s finances.

The company’s troubles began when routine financial audits revealed significant discrepancies in procurement records.

What started as a regular review quickly turned into a nightmare, as an internal investigation uncovered that the trusted procurement manager had been siphoning company funds for months.

Faced with undeniable evidence, the manager initially confessed to embezzling BD 8,054.710. Hoping to avoid further damage to the company’s reputation, the owner sought to settle the matter quietly.

He gave the manager multiple chances to repay the stolen money, but every attempt at reconciliation was met with resistance.

When the manager refused to cooperate and evaded police questioning, the company had no choice but to escalate the matter legally.

The owner filed an urgent motion to prevent the manager from fleeing the country, further intensifying the legal battle.

A forensic accountant was brought in to investigate the full extent of the fraud.

The detailed report revealed that the actual amount embezzled was BD 8,266.217, slightly higher than the manager’s initial confession. Armed with this evidence, the company moved swiftly to seek justice.

The High Civil Court accepted the forensic findings and ruled in the company’s favour.

The manager was not only ordered to repay the full amount but was also sentenced to jail, bringing an end to the drawn-out legal ordeal.

The court further imposed all legal fees on the manager, ensuring the company was compensated for the financial damage and legal expenses caused by his betrayal.
