A much-anticipated recreational area has finally opened in Saar, providing local children with a dedicated place to play.
The 3,372-square-metre Saar Garden, situated in Block 525, welcomed its first visitors on Saturday, meeting the community’s call for more green spaces.
The opening was overseen by Eng Wael Al Mubarak, the Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs, accompanied by other officials, including Eng Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Municipalities Affairs, and Dr Sayed Shubber Al Wadaei, Chairman of the Northern Municipal Council, along with representatives from civil society.
Minister Al Mubarak spoke of the Ministry’s efforts to increase green areas and improve public parks.
‘This park is an essential addition to the Northern Governorate’s facilities, built to high standards,’ he said, mentioning the inclusion of a smart irrigation system and security cameras to ensure safety.
He added that around 123 trees have been planted, covering 800 square metres, as part of the National Afforestation Plan.
Dr Sayed Shubbar Al Wadaei applauded the collaboration that brought Saar Garden to life, describing it as a ‘model project’ for the community, especially for Saar’s residents. He also acknowledged the Ministry’s support in backing the council’s proposals.
Similarly, Municipal Council Member Tariq Al Farsani thanked the Ministry for its role in improving infrastructure and municipal services, noting that such developments enhance the residents’ quality of life.
The park’s opening is another step in the Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs’ push to create more green areas and improve recreational facilities throughout Bahrain.
