The Ministry of Works has initiated discussions with the Muharraq Municipal Council regarding a proposal to expand the entrance to East Hidd at the intersection of Dry Dock Highway and Avenue 12.
A recent traffic and planning study has indicated that this expansion aligns seamlessly with the broader road sector plan, aiming to increase the storage lane for vehicles turning east.
However, the ministry has raised concerns about potential challenges associated with the presence of underground utilities and electrical cables in the area. Ongoing coordination efforts with the relevant authorities are underway to resolve these conflicts.
The project's implementation will depend on obtaining the necessary approvals, as well as ensuring technical readiness and the allocation of financial resources.
This proposed expansion goes beyond mere administrative action; it signifies a response to the growing demands on the region’s infrastructure.
Local authorities have expressed concerns about the increasing volume of vehicles, underscoring the urgent need for enhancements to accommodate this growth.
Additionally, stakeholders are being encouraged to provide feedback, ensuring that community needs are adequately considered.
This initiative reflects the government's commitment to improving infrastructure and addressing the pressing challenges of urban mobility in Bahrain, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the city’s evolving dynamics.
