His Excellency Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Bahrain’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, praised the longstanding and strong relationship between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States, emphasizing that their partnership has flourished over many decades based on mutual respect and cooperation. Speaking at the annual ceremony of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bahrain (AmCham Bahrain) held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, the Minister underscored Bahrain’s commitment to further enhancing bilateral ties through joint agreements and mutual visits.
The event, which was attended by AmCham Bahrain President Qays Al Zubi and several distinguished officials, served as a platform to review key topics shaping Bahrain-US relations. In his keynote speech, Minister Fakhro highlighted the significance of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two nations, noting its positive impact on trade growth and increased agricultural exports from the US to Bahrain. He expressed optimism about expanding the partnership to include vital sectors such as technology, finance, and tourism.
“The Free Trade Agreement has already proven to be a catalyst for growth, but we are just scratching the surface of its potential,” the Minister said, adding that there is an urgent need for more businesses to tap into the opportunities for trade and investment presented by the FTA. In 2022 alone, bilateral trade between the two countries reached $3 billion, with US exports accounting for $1.8 billion and imports from Bahrain reaching $1 billion.
AmCham Bahrain President Qays Al Zubi also reiterated the Chamber’s commitment to fostering stronger economic ties, stating that the annual event reflects AmCham’s dedication to deepening the bond between Bahrain and the US.
Both leaders stressed the importance of continuing the strong economic relationship and capitalizing on new opportunities in the coming years.
